Music is part of our Masonic experience.

A CELEBRATION OF MOZART

Saint Paul Lodge presented a wonderful evening of music January 21, 2006, celebrating the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth.  The intimacy of the setting, the quality of the music and the enthusiastic reception of the audience created an evening that will be long remembered by those in attendance.  The concert was preceded by a catered dinner in our dining room.

Eight musicians performed, including our Bro. Roderick Kettlewell on his Bösendorfer Concert Grand Piano and our Bro. Nickolai Kolarov on his cello.  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an enthusiastic Freemason and some of the pieces performed were written specifically for his lodge in Vienna.

The first half of the concert consisted of the following pieces:

Piano Sonata in B flat Major “Linz”, K. 333

Concerto in A, for Clarinet, K. 622

Trio in E flat Major, “Kegelstatt”, for Clarinet, Cello and Piano, K. 498

Following the intermission, selections from The Magic Flute, and other pieces were presented:

Abendempfindung an Laura, K. 523

Als Luise die Brife ihres ungetreuen Liebhabers verbrannte, K. 520

Fantasia in C minor for Piano solo, K. 475

Lied zur Gessellenrise, K. 468

Four excerpts from The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), K. 620

Concert Aria: “Ch’io mi scordi di te”, for soprano and piano solo, K. 505

A reception was held following the concert.

The event served as a fund-raiser to help preserve Triune Temple.  We are deeply indebted to the musicians, our caterer, and The Living History Society of Minnesota, all of whom gave of their time and talent to support our building.
